Construction Award of Excellence: Best Heavy Construction - Large Civil Projects
Allan A. Myers was recognized for their work on The Pennsylvania Turnpike (MP 326-331) in King of Prussia, PA. The reconstruction of 5.3 miles from four lanes to six took place in the most heavilty traveled portion of the PA Turnpike System. The work was completed over 28 months and occured in four major statges with 13 substages. The overall scope of the project included five bridges and three box culvert extensions; ten MSE walls, five post and panel retaining walls and eleven RSS walls; six noise walls; 658,000 cy of excavation; 423,000 tn of bituminous paving; 360 drainage structures and 36,500 lf of pipe.
Construction Award of Excellence: Best Heavy Construction - Sitework
Allan A. Myers was recognized for their work at Haverford Reserves in Haverford, PA. AAM was responsible for the conversion of the former Haverford State Hospital site into a development with 100 carriage home pads, 6 condominium complex pads, and multiple fields. The sitework included 260,000 CY earthwork, 31,000 LF of underground utilities, 59,000 SY asphalt paving as well as sidewalk and curb, retaining walls, and relocation of existing trees on site.
Construction Award of Merit: Best Heavy Construction - Sitework
Allan A. Myers was recognized for their work on the Glaxo Smith Kline Data Center in Collegeville, PA. The 206,000 SF data center building sits on a 21 acre site with a new roads expanding from their existing campus, new parking areas, and underground utilities. The site work portion of the project consisted of over 110,000 CY of excavation including 25,000 CY of rock excavation. The site utilities includes over 1500 LF of sanitary sewer, 4000 LF of storm sewer, and 3000 LF of waterline installation. Other improvements to the site included over 17,000 SY of bituminous paving, 2500 SY of concrete paving, guiderails, concrete curbs, and sidewalks.

Construction Award of Excellence: Best Heavy Construction – Public Works Projects
Expansion of Forest Park Water Treatment Plant in Chalfont, PA that doubled the existing capacity from 20 MGD to 40 MGD and converted existing multimedia filters to membrane filters. The team utilized robotics for the demolition aspects of the project which increased safety and production and reduced stress on the labor force.

Increased the safety and quality of The City of Wilmington's water source by constructing two 5,000,000 gallon enclosed water storage tanks at Cool Springs Reservoir. Over 14,000 CY of concrete used in innovative process that increased safety and reduced production time.

Construction Award of Excellence: Best Heavy Construction – Sitework
Maris Grove Neighborhood II sitework included 8 building pads and almost 1 1/2 miles of pipe work. Planning and Scheduling were crucial on this project because the residents were already in Neighborhood I and the project team had to work around them.

New Britain Corporate Center site was previously a dumping location which provided a challenge for AAM. Blasting operations conducted within 100' of existing structures were safely and successfully performed as well.

Comprehensive site development services for 233 military housing units at the Dover Air Force Base completed ahead of schedule and budget.

Best controlled jobsite for the year for erosion and sediment controls.

Outstanding pavement construction – hot mix asphalt quality control and placement technology.
Award of Excellence in Construction – Heavy Civil Category
Built two of five sections of a new transmission facility in Tuscarora, MD. Project consists of 15 miles of new transmission main, a new water tower and pump station and improvements to the existing treatment plant. Unique project challenges included two hand and machine-dug tunnels for the main under the I-270 corridor and CSX railway, plus two crossings of the volatile Monocacy River.

Demolition and reconstruction of 8.5 miles of 4-lane divided highway, rebuilding of 2 complete interchanges, demolition and reconstruction of 6 bridges on a project complicated by unsuitable sub-grade soils, climate extremes and strict safety measures.

The large retail shopping center project (including significant roadway improvements) was complicated by the removal of existing BGE lines cutting through the deepest fills of the job site, plus soil and sediment control issues.
